Treillage

I love the use of lattice work in interior rooms. Treillage has been used in design throughout history--- it has been used in Islamic countries for screening and decoration (think the architectural masterpiece Alhambra) and the formal gardens at Versailles.  In America,  it was introduced to the design scene by one of America's first famed decorators, Elsie de Wolfe, through her Trellis Room at the Colony Club. In the 1930s, the use of chinoiserie bamboo and lattice was big in  chic Hollywood Regency style interiors and made a comeback in the 1960's and 70's.  Currently some of my favorite decorators use Treillage to great advantage in their chinoiserie inspired rooms, Meg Braff, Kelly Wearstler and Diamond Baratta to name a few.  I just love the whimsical element it adds to design.  Here is some inspiration:
