New Traditional Dining Room: Brown Metallic

Metallic Wallpaper
I am helping my dear  friend and client select dining room furniture.  The dining room is in gorgeous classic colonial situated on the North Shore of Long Island.  She has an existing light fixture (purchased in Paris) and she chose a wallpaper that has a beautiful metallic flowered pattern  and really reminds me of a chic mid-century pattern.

Ever the neo-traditionalist, my inclination is get a simple elegant round table (the room is square, 14 x 15) and funk it up with some cool chairs in a flamboant color (I'll have to do some convincing as she prefers a rectangular table). With a round table it is best not to go too much bigger than 60" (188" diameter) or no one will be able to reach the center.  60" usually fits 8 chairs.

Again, the ultra conservative in me leans to a simple off white geometric or a cool blue or green color to balance the warm paper.
