This summer I had the honor of briefly meeting the Prince of Chintz himself, Mario Buatta. He was incredibly gracious and friendly, a true gentleman. Anyway, I love his timeless style, and the British side of me will always love high tea and chintz and that is why I love this Anglophile. So for a little inspiration, here are a few pictures and some great quotes from this wonderful decorator.

In an interview with AD, Mario Buatta described the crucial skills necessary to be a good decorator: "I’ve always said, to be a good decorator, you have to be three things: an actor (you have to pretend you like the person, their house and their things!), a psychiatrist (you have to figure out what the client wants) and a lawyer (to collect your money)!" Hah! I love it. You can read the article here. |

Some words from Mario Buatta:
"Chintz is back in fashion."
"Ceilings are the fifth wall people always forget. Paint them yellow to let the sun in."
"Small spaces crave large furniture. Try a four poster bed in a small room."
"Curtains hung high add instant height."
"Paint every room its own color."
"Kitchens look divine painted black."
