We are still without power here on the North Shore of Long Island but not without many blessings. Times like this remind me how fortunate we are to live in such comfort with the good fortune of generous friends -- many of whom have shared wonderful dinners with us and offered is a warm place to sleep and hot showers. Currently we are staying in a neighbors cottage which is thankfully heated. Every night we have been invited to a different friends' home (they have generators) for dinner. There is no way we could have stayed here without the kindness of our friends and neighbors. Why did I stick around and not head to family in VA or SC? I am an eternal optimist! And today there is even more reason for optimism -- utility trucks from Minnesota (!) less than a mile from our home.
